Why did we start this blog you ask?  For any reason any red blooded American woman would do anything….

A bet.  A bet involving food.  Fancy food.

Challenge accepted.

Bet-winners

Needless to say we won.  So on a lovely Friday evening we got dressed up and packed up Sarah’s Asian boyfriend “L” … AKA: the money.  He had promised us dinner if we were successful bloggers, and we were going to take full advantage of that.  We proceeded to head to the acclaimed and expensive Nick Ryan’s in the downtown Lexington area for a meal that kicked butt.

Appetizer?  We’re not paying, so yes please.  We ordered the Tostada De Tinga.  AKA fancy nachos.  An appetizer not made to share – therefore although it was delicious, it was also difficult to eat.

Appetizer

When it came time for dinner Sarah ordered the 18 oz. Porterhouse sirloin (med).  You may not realize how large an 18 oz. steak is, but lets just say it covers the plate.  The waitress brought it to the table and chuckled ‘at least you’ll have something to take home.  People just wanted to see your face when you saw it’.

THE Steak

Silly waitress. Taking the comment personally, Sarah turned the meal into a food challenge.  Classy.  It was perfectly cooked and quite amazing, therefore making it easier to devour the entire thing.  Yes.  There were no leftovers except the bone, and only because Sarah couldn’t figure out how to eat that.

Chrissy and “L” both ordered the perfectly normal-sized chicken, also amazingly seasoned with crispy skin and a full-bodied (although oily) sauce.  And even though they enjoyed their poultry immensely, they both stared longingly at the steak Sarah chose.

Less Impressive But Equally Delicious

There was talk after the meal of going out for drinks, but instead the three got into their cars and drove.  They drove home to their comfy pants, their trashy Friday night TV, and a food coma.
